Dr. Alberta McLaughlin, M.Div., D.Min.
Dr. Alberta McLaughlin offers training and coaching services to those of rape and domestic violence, incarceration, pastoral care and counseling, and other women issues.
She is a native New Yorker, who now resides in Raleigh, NC. Her professional labor consists of working among the communities in New York City during Advocacy work for Mount Sinai Hospital, NY. She became a Crisis Counselor for Rape and Domestic Survivors. She spearheaded a Women’s Empowerment Group within the community of Astoria, NY. She also provided chaplaincy work at Brookdale, Hospital, NY.
Upon relocating to Eastern North Carolina, Dr. McLaughlin served as a chaplain at Vidant Medical Hospital in Greenville and at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. In addition, she has worked as a Clinical Chaplain in the Male and Female Prisons. Her work experience as chaplaincy has led her to earning five Clinical Pastoral Education units.
Dr. McLaughlin became a Justice LED (Leaders, Engaging, and Developing) Regional Trainer for the Justice Witness Ministries for United Church of Christ (UCC). She works on Church and Ministry and Board of Directors. She serves on the Southern Conference Women and she is a trainer for Global Ministries of UCC. Presently, as an ordain clergy and serves as the Pastor of Sandhill United Church of Christ, Aberdeen, NC.
She has earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the College of New Rochelle, NY; a Master of Divinity from Shaw University Divinity School, Raleigh, NC; and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. McLaughlin has two married children and five grandchildren. She continued to work in the Corporate America setting as an Administrator. She holds close to her heart a famous quote by Sojourner Truth, “I am glad to see that men are getting their rights, but I want women to get theirs, and while the water is stirring I will step into the pool”.
